Day 4 - Friday, July 16

Today we traveled back to the '70s and visited the center of the hippie universe - the Haight-Ashbury. Although there were no Janis Joplin or Jefferson Airplane sitings, we enjoyed the counterculture scene and saw plenty of Greatful Dead loyalists. The Haight was the foundation of the Summer of Love:

We also walked through Golden Gate Park, which is directly adjacent to Haight Street. The Park is a 1,000 acres (20% larger than Central Park) and has several museums, a Japanese Tea Garden, the San Francisco Botanical Garden, and a HUGE homeless population.
